A few weeks ago I came across a Facebook event for the 2015 Everett Food Truck Festival. I tagged it in case we had time this weekend given it was happening a few blocks from our apartment.
We’ve been busy getting ready to move this week, but I thought at the very least we might be able to grab lunch. Saturday morning our friends text to say they were planning to go so we arranged to meet them downtown.
I couldn’t believe how busy the event was or how long the lines had become by the time we walked over to the main event area. People were waiting about 45 minutes for a single truck, and several trucks had already packed up within a couple of hours of the start time because they were out of food!
Everett is a large city so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised at the number of people, but I think the 5k Bubble Run downtown just before the event was equally to blame. Who doesn’t want to grab food and drinks after a fun run?
We had dinner plans at Toulouse Petit (my new favorite restaurant) that night so we decided to just share some lunch and save room for dinner. Our friends grabbed food a few trucks down, and we found a shady curb so we could chat and finish our food.
It was a nice event, but we all thought there could have been more seating and some music– a band or DJ would have been fun. It sounds like this even grows each year and is one of many food truck festivals around the area so I look forward to checking it out again next year (note: arrive RIGHT when it starts, know there will be long lines and make a day of it) and looking into some of the other themed food truck festivals (Taco Trucks, etc.).
A few snapshots of the festival and our last weekend living in downtown Everett!
