One Week in Belize Itinerary

We intended to take a week-long trip to Vietnam this spring, but as the months went by and COVID travel restrictions remained in place, I had to come to terms with the fact that I needed a back-up plan. When we caught wind that Alaska Airlines had announced new direct flights from Seattle to Belize City, our plan b began to take shape. We were headed to Belize!

Belize was never on my travel radar, but as I began researching things to do, I started getting excited. Since this was our first time visiting Belize, we decided to split our time between the inland jungle and the sunny coastal cayes.

We are not really beach or heat people, so I tried very hard not to go into our trip predisposed to the jungle portion of our itinerary. We ended up having some fun adventures in the cayes, but ultimately I did love our time in the jungle and would explore more of the country’s interior if I were to visit again.

Our itinerary gave us a great taste of what Belize has to offer. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, took a shuttle from the airport to San Ignacio, divided our time between the jungle and cayes, and flew back to Seattle the following Sunday.

Here’s a roundup of what we did to get you started on your own trip planning!

Belize 1 Week Itinerary

Day 1 – Fly to Belize City, zip over to San Ignacio, grab dinner and a good night’s sleep

Day 2 – Explore San Ignacio and Cahal Pech

Day 3 – Spend the day on an ATM Tour – highlight of our trip!

Day 5 – Travel to Caye Caulker and swim at the Split
