Travel-Themed Bridal Shower

232323232-fp53739-nu=3242-4;8-286-WSNRCG=35---673-3327nu0mrjI am still reeling from the most amazing bridal shower a girl could ask for. All our family and friends came together for one big shower to celebrate only a couple of months from the big day.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t overwhelmed pretty much the whole time. I didn’t feel I got to spend enough time with everyone who drove all the way up for the party, and I didn’t think I spent near enough time looking at and appreciating the just incredible gifts we received.

My friends were telling me it was fine and just to keep things moving, but it just seemed like everything flew by.

Unfortunately everyone is also telling me the wedding is going to be just like this, only 100x faster and crazier. Yikes!

We had non-stop rain and flooding leading up to the shower, but the clouds finally parted and the sun was in full force for our Sunday afternoon. I was melting in the 95 degree heat, but some of my friends took the opportunity to tan and some of the guests who typically complain of always being cold seemed a bit closer to comfortable than me.

I probably missed half the detail that went into the planning, but I just wanted to post some pictures that show how much time, effort and love went into my “travel-themed” shower. I could not believe it– it was truly amazing.

Example of the beautiful flower arrangements--they had lemons and limes in the vases for some summer color and many of the flowers were picked from my mom's gardens. They featured pictures of the fiance and I from around the world.

Some old globes also featured as centerpieces. Everything was surrounded by little luggage tags made from maps with travel quotes.

The crazy pile of gifts, some with map paper, some in little 'trunks' and then a pretty trunk with homemade 'card' label for the cards, which we will also use at the wedding!

The food was adorable--little trunks holding the utensils, pretzels with several dipping sauces and some travel trinkets like an ornament and scrapbook page. Also some of our engagement pictures frames with a map matting.

One of my favorite bakeries in Akron called West Side Bakery, made this cake, as arranged by my future mother-in-law--a suitcase with international stamps! Half strawberries and cream and half vanilla with toffee filling--delicious!

I am so grateful for all of the time and effort that went into the celebration–it was truly amazing, and I know I will remember it for the rest of my life. I received some of the most amazing gifts from family members who put so much thought into everything–I was overwhelmed and it literally took me a couple of days to recover.

It was really a reality check and a kick-off to the wedding–it really hit me this is happening, and that was an amazing feeling. We’ve been planning it for so long, I think I’ve been able to convince myself everything was ok and things were still a ways off. Not true! Today is the official eight-week mark, and everything is flying by.

We decided to just do a medley of things that represent us throughout our wedding collateral and decor, but this travel-themed shower fit me (and the fiance) to a tee, and was so incredible. I can’t say thank you enough to everyone who helped and attended. These memories will last a lifetime.
